Having been in the CEO position at Keystone Symposia for nearly six months, I have learned a great deal about the intricacies of establishing high quality scientific meetings. Being privy to the operations of Keystone Symposia has opened my eyes to the very detailed planning process required to achieve the seamless conference experience for which Keystone is so highly regarded.As I develop a deeper understanding of what makes Keystone Symposia so unique, I am also looking for opportunities for improvement. Partnership with the Endocrine Society
We are excited to announce a new partnership with The Endocrine Society, which leverages the strengths of both of our organizations to advance basic research towards clinical impacts in the fields of Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease and Oncology.
This partnership will be instrumental in bringing together basic scientists with clinicians and clinician-scientists to accelerate translational advances that will impact patients. We are thrilled to connect with the Endocrine Society to facilitate this common goal.

The upcoming 2025 conference season boasts an impressive lineup in the Keystone Symposia portfolio, as we travel around the world to address the greatest challenges in biomedicine today, and explore new frontiers in science, bioengineering and medicine. These include tackling HIV in Africa, addressing climate change and infectious disease threats around the world, and showcasing therapeutic advances in vaccinology and proximity-based therapeutics. Often described as the ‘sixth sense,’ interoception conveys a different kind of information to the brain than the traditional five senses. While sight, smell, hearing, taste and touch all sense and convey external information, interoception senses and conveys internal information, as the name suggests. Scientists are just beginning to discover how critical interoception is to monitoring and modulating essential bodily functions, including organ function, immunity and even our emotions and behavior. To explore this exciting, and rapidly expanding new field, Keystone Symposia will convene a meeting onInteroception: Neural Sensing and Control of Organ Function, on April 22-24, 2025, at the Allen Institute in Seattle, Washington. A mix of social, political, and cultural factors has deterred researchers and diverted funds from female reproductive biology for far too long, and women’s health has suffered because of it. To address this oversight, Keystone Symposia will convene a meeting on theRegenerative Biology of the Female Reproductive System from April 10-12, 2025, in Beverly, Mass. It will cover mechanisms of regeneration, fertility, gynecologic conditions, reproductive tract cancers, and more, capturing the breadth of this expanding field while acknowledging that much of this work is long overdue. Shannon Weiman earned her PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of California, San Diego, specializing in microbiology and immunology. Prior to joining the Keystone Symposia team, she worked as a freelance writer for leaders in academic, industry and government research, including Stanford University’s Biomedical Innovation Initiative, the University of Colorado’s Biofrontiers Program, UCSF, the FDA and the American Society for Microbiology.
